Shawn Thibault, Ravensone Masonry and Conservation Inc., and Marilyn Williams welcome you to the historic sandstone Carnegie library for an overview of early Calgary area masons, stone cutters and quarries. After a brief talk on the repair and restoration of historic stone masonry, tour Victoria Park's traditional monuments to observe the building material that once defined our "Sandstone City".

Tour some of the heritage themed signal boxes in the Beltline that illustrate Calgary then and now. Join local writer Joan Lawrence as she discusses the inspiration for The City of Calgary program, the stories behind the historical photos on the boxes, and the ways the streetscape has changed. 

For decades this neighbourhood on the other side of the tracks suffered classic symptoms of urban decay. Today, Victoria Park experiences gentrification and rebuilding on a massive scale. David Low (Victoria Park BIA) and community heritage enthusiasts will show you how old and new are being integrated to create a vibrant urban community out of brick and sandstone roots.

BAD MOMENTS - FOREVER is the final instalment in a series of works under the moniker of bad moments. bad moments is the result of several year of studio-based research and consists of seven separate installations, each utilizing the same materials in different configurations. Crumbling relationships, the loss and redefining of identity, and the toxicity of the heroicized romantic self-image are closely examined through a heavily nostalgic slow dance at your high school prom.

CONRAD MARION is a Calgary-based artist currently working towards his BFA at the Alberta College of Art and Design. His work deals primarily with the aftershocks of failed relationships viewed through a heavy filter of saccharine nostalgia.
